AIDS does not discriminate. HIV weakens the body's immune system, making it more difficult to fight off infections. Sexually transmitted diseases are a group of communicable diseases that are transmitted predominantly by the sexual route. Common sexually transmitted diseases are gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, trichomonas, chancroid and genital herpes.

There are over 20 kinds of STIs. If caught right away, most can be treated. If left untreated, however, some STIs can cause infertility, cervical cancer, and other serious health problems. In the absence of treatment, there can be genital damage and sterility in both men and women.Untreated syphilis can damage liver, heart and brain, the child of a women with syphilis is either stillborn or born with numerous congenital defects. Gonorrhea of the female genital tract can infect baby during pregnancy and cause conjunctivitis (eye infection) and pneumonia in newborn. If you or your partner experience any unusual irritation, redness, or discharge it is important that you both see a doctor as soon as possible. In addition, some people who are infected with STIs may be asymtomatic, and not experience any problems.

Bacterial Infections
Bacterial agents cause a number of STDs and they generally reproduce rapidly. Bacterial STIs can be treated in many cases, like the common infections chlamydia and gonorrhea. However, if not treated these infections may cause pelvic inflammatory disease. Other bacterial STIs, such as syphilis, can be treated in their earlier stages: yet if left untreated, the disease may progress into a very serious problem. The following bacterial STIs are primarily transmitted through sexual contact.
Chancroid, Chlamydia , Gonorrhea , Syphilis , Nongonococcal Urethritis, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease ,Vaginitis , Urinary Tract Infections.

Parasitic Infections

A virus is an organism that invades, lives and reproduces within a cell. Most viruses are transmitted through contact with infectious blood or other body fluids. These viral infections are easily transmitted through sexual contact. Unfortunately, most viral infections have no real cure, however the human body can fight off some viral invasions. In addition there are some treatments that control the virus for long periods of time.
